Accreditation
The Master of Public Health
program at The Dartmouth Institute
for Health Policy and Clinical
Practice entered its first class in
2002 and was accredited in 2003
by the Council on Education for
Public Health (CEPH)
, the
accrediting body for schools and
programs of public health.
Dartmouth's MPH program held its
re-accreditation site visit in the fall
of 2008 and was re-accredited by
CEPH through 2016. Currently,
there are 78 full- and part-time
students enrolled in the program
TDI's MPH program is also a
member of the Council of
Graduate Programs in Public
Health
, which is associated with
the Association for Prevention
Teaching and Research (APTR)
Capstone
For students in the MPH program, the final experience is the Public Health
Capstone Project (ECS 162). The Public Health Capstone Project provides students with an opportunity to apply principles and skills learned in the classroom and in the field through the measurement, organization, and
improvement of public health care.

Courses
The Master of Public Health (MPH)
and Master of Science (MS)
curricula are designed to provide
every student with the fundamental
skills, knowledge base, and
philosophical foundation in health
policy and clinical practice, with
specific attention paid to public
health, clinical/health services
research, or health care leadership.
To fulfill the requirements for the
MPH degree, all students must
satisfactorily complete at least
fifty-six (56) credits total, including
all required courses (ECS 100,
115, 117, 140, 151, 154, 156, 157,
159, 160, 161, 162). Electives may
be taken to reach 56 credits. For a

Students gain skills in statistical analysis software for their quantitative classes and research projects at TDI and beyond.
MBA/MPH Joint Degree Program
Tuck School of Business & The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice

The joint MBA/MPH degree at Dartmouth College takes 2 1/3 years (or a total of 8 terms) to complete.  Students will apply to the programs concurrently or during the first year of enrollment at Tuck.

government, health advocacy
groups, and so on.

Internship
 MPH students are required to
complete an internship in the field.
Recent placements have included
local, state, national, and a few
international agencies and
organizations. Students may
choose from an extensive list of
available projects proposed by a
variety of agencies in the New
England region. Students may also
choose to develop their own
projects based on their specific
interests, skills, and career
aspirations. In many cases,
students are offered full-time
employment based on their
internship work.
