Career & Professional Development for Students
Career and Professional Development works to support you, our students, as you chart out a career in healthcare, quality improvement, health policy and public health. Services are delivered through workshops, one-on-one coaching, and alumni engagement. Services support all students, whether heading for the job market, medical school, or continued graduate education.
Career Development Curriculum
The curriculum is designed to integrate academic, professional, and leadership development into a cohesive career plan through use of an Individual Development Plan. Career planning begins before you arrive, continues in a working session during Orientation, and progresses through an intensive program to help you crystalize your career aims, define your value proposition, and target internship and capstone topics that align with your career interests. Access to career development tools, techniques and resources is available through an online Careers Course.
One-on-one coaching is provided to help clarify your career goals, focus your individual value proposition, and help with course selection. Coaching support utilizes a Career Map to define all aspects of a motivated job search.
One-on-one support leads to development of marketing tools, including resume/CV, cover letter, and qualification statements, alumni introductions, interview preparation, follow up support, and assistance in negotiating the offer.
