Short Bio

Mary is RAND Professor of Health Services Research in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, University of Cambridge, UK; Deputy Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Quality and Safety; and a fellow of both the Academy of Social Sciences and the Academy of Medical Sciences. As Co-Director of the Cambridge Centre for Health Services Research, she leads a major research program focused on healthcare improvement and safety, ethics, and methodological innovations in studying healthcare. Mary is an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a Visiting Professor at the University of Leicester, UK.

In 2012, Mary received the Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator Award that is given to “world class scholars asking the most important questions at the interface of science, medicine and the humanities.”
