Payment Models & Delivery System Reform
The Payment and Delivery System Reform Core is a team within The Dartmouth Institute dedicated to advancing delivery system reform, payment reform models and accountable care organizations (ACO) at the national, state and regional levels by partnering with stakeholders across health care including payers, providers and policy makers.
Our team works to study, evaluate and inform implementation of ACOs nationwide. Our work and research is guided by the following principles:
-
A sustainable health system can only be achieved by striving toward three aims: better health, better care, and lower costs. A focus on one risks the others.
-
A sustainable health system can meet the needs of the community at a lower cost by redesigning clinical systems and community resources and programs.
-
New measurement systems and new payment models are needed to support health systems and communities in their efforts to achieve the three aims.
-
Evaluation of new payment models is critical for learning about success in real time.
